The premise of this platformer is relatively simple; you’re trapped in an ancient temple and are forced to gather sacred relics in order to release yourself, along with the God of the Abyss, who sends you on your journey to freedom armed with nothing but the right attitude and a grappling hook/whip.
Once the legendary relic at the bottom of each temple is found, the temple goes away forever and becomes the priceless trophy of the skilled adventurer.
If you’re savvy enough, you can use the spectres to your advantage by dashing through while the traps reset. Conversely, they can also trigger a swathe of saw blades while you’re not looking, so it pays to be vigilant.
It is a game that will join the likes of FTL and Spulunky as games that are forever in my regular rotation, and for a game like this, I can offer pelo higher praise.
Phantom Abyss is a massive asynchronous multiplayer game that casts players into procedurally-generated temples and tasks them with retrieving the sacred relics hidden within deadly chambers. I understand that is due to the servers being reset but perhaps a forced progression reset wasn't the best idea.
